Grievance redressal is a very crucial component to a scheme of
such large magnitude as Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. Laboures working under
Mahatma Gandhi NREGA toil hard for their wages and often get disillusioned when their wage are not paid in time. This untimely payment of wages
resultant dissatisfaction can be a huge road block in the success of the
scheme.
To
avoid such displeasure and to ensure timely wages of payment, district
administration of
Raipur in Chhattisgarh launched its toll free helpline
service 1077.under this service people could dial on this number and register their
complaint to the operator. The operator entered their complaint in prescribed
format and gave the complainant a token number for future reference. The
database of the software ensured that the complaint registered is passed on to
the concerned program officer, block development
officer and concerned engineer through sms, email and
phone call. If the delay was due to non-valuation of work, then the sub
engineer was held responsible and if the delay was due to non entry of Muster
Roll or procedural delay than the BDO/PO had to comply.
The software also has a feature wherein if there is
any complaint not redressed with in 5 days the concerned officer was sent a instant sms alert. The software
also alerted the DPC and CEO ZP about the delay in redressal beyond 5 days. This is regularly monitored by both the officers in the weekly
time limit meetings.

concerned laboures but also helped in instilling faith in the scheme & its
